I need help identifying a (Frisky?) engine

Hi,

I have a Villiers 9E engine from presumably a Frisky microcar. I can't find the confirming information if it is indeed a Frisky Family three engine.

The engine number is 482B/717 and is 197cc, single cilinder.

From the picture's i have seen it look exactly the same.

Anyone can confirm this based on similarities with engine numbering?

It is in storage at my uncle's farm, some 150km south, so this is all i have for now.

Going by the photograph, I would say that its not Frisky.  Probably more likely to be from a Scooter as the coil is bolted onto the cooling fan
and its does not have a reversing Dynastart.  Also that the hand throttle or choke would suggest its out of a Scooter.  What model does it say on the Villiers maker plate ?.
Mr Meadows will be able to confirm the Frisky Family 3 series of engine numbers but from memory 482B is not Frisky or Scootacar.

Looks identical to the scooter one I sold a whileback , for all the reasons above . With modificationx it could be made suitable but a reversing invalid car 9e would be a better starting point wouldnt it ? I do like these cooling fan covers

I am not sure about this motor but our Villiers 3T has 729B as the number for Meadows.

Villiers Everybody's Engine by Rob Carrick & Mick Walker ISBN 9780955527845 list's 434B, 812B and 049D as 9E engine numbers and 648B and 729B as 2T numbers supplied specifically to H Meadows vehicles. Unfortunately it doesn't mention who they supplied 482B's to.

Thanks for all the replies. I received an email from John Meadows and he confirms it is not a Frisky engine.

After some searching I think it might be a Bond P2 or a DKR Defiant engine. The coil on the cooling cover hints after a scooter.

I'm going to sell it anyway, since I dont own a microcar or a scooter.

If it is a scooter unit, which it looks like, then the Lowland scooter collectors might be the best buyers. Folk like Philipe Olivier of Bruges area, Alain Urlings out near Maastricht. Just a thought.

Shipping anywhere in EU will be around 46 euro, with 500,- insurance. If it weighs less than 20kg, it drops to 35 euro.

No longer in that circle, but they were very much key members of Belgium Scooters, vintage Scootering, as well as Microcars. Sadly the UK club system chooses not to talk to these people, not even telling them about our big Rallies, despite claims to advertise them, otherwise the info would be on hand.

Alain used to be the man behind the Limburg Club, I think it was.
