Hammond Collection Open Day
« on: April 24, 2016, 07:09:39 PM »
Thank you to all of you who joined us today for our first working party of the year.  We had a great gathering,  lots of things were achieved.
some good suggestions were made backed up by promises of help so we were able to decide that this year's Open Day will be a two day event.  So book the date,  Saturday and Sunday 30th / 31st July.  We plan to have a run out on Saturday and a more static day on the Sunday. As soon as plans are formalised we will let you have more details.
Unfortunately, nobody arrived in a classic car so we could not have the planned  photo shoot for Drive It Day but it was great to see several people who have not been to the farm for sometime and also to welcome several newcomers who have enthusiastically joined the ranks of the Friends of the Hammond Collection.
Thank you for all your help, enthusiasm and hard work, it is very much appreciated. We  look forward to seeing you in July.  Jean

Hi everybody,  We are planning to make this year's event a two day affair.  A run out on Saturday with the Morgan Museum at Rolvenden being the main objective, but with other stops possible.  In the evening we hope to have a BBQ or Hog Roast accompanied by live music, Bob and his Bubblers, with a quiz and hopefully a film show.  On the Sunday there will be the usual static display of visitor's cars, microcars and some other invited interesting classic or vintage vehicles, driving tests, refreshments, raffle and of course the museum will be open for most of the time.  Lesley has reserved our official Camping and Caravan site for our microcar visitors at the moment but if you would like to use these facilities please make an early booking with her to ensure we don't run out of space.  Anyone  would be welcome, if you are travelling a long distance, to book for as many nights as you wish either side of the weekend. There are lots of interesting places to visit in this part of Kent if you want plan your visit around a holiday.
If any one can has any other suggestions to make or offers of help to make it an even more exciting weekend please make contact with me.
We hope that a two day event will make it more attractive to those of you who live further away and maybe even some of our Continental friends will join us.  Jean

Great news - We have teamed up with local No 17 The Headcorn Delicatessen for our event catering. We will have a fabulous range of locally roasted coffees provided by Kampa - from Cappuccino to Latte & anything between, all complimented by some yummy home baked cakes. On Saturday we are planning a hog roast & a BBQ on Sunday so there will be great food at reasonable prices throughout the weekend. Further details to follow. See our Facebook page 'The Hammond Collection'.
To help us with this venture it essential that those of you who intend to come either with or without your microcar that you book as soon as possible especially if you intend to join us on Saturday or wish to use our camping facilities. We don't want to run out of space or food!!!!

contact: cookshf@aol.com or jean@rumcars.org or 01580 891377.

Thanks for your co-operation,  bring the sunshine with you and let's make it a fun weekend. Jean
