Bruce Weiner collection
« on: November 06, 2014, 08:47:30 PM »
If you look on the American Ebay today you will see five of Bruce's collection that were in the auction 18 months ago. These five do not appear to have been sold in the auction and are now up for grabs. I wonder how many other cars did not sell and will reappear to be sold on ebay?

I remember somebody saying at the time that Bruce did not sell all the cars. How right they were.

My apologies, there are six vehicles for sale. There are six days to go, and only one bid. Can Bruce work his magic?

I actually reported on this set of cars (part of a set of 12 sold to a single buyer) earlier this year.
They were purchased, paid for and then BW agreed to store them for a time. (he did this for a few other buyers as well)
They were never picked up and late last year he said the buyer was thinking about selling them.
There was some talk of taking them all to a live auction but that has apparently turned into eBay sales instead.
5 of the 12 vehicles are currently listed as I type this, I would expect the others to appear in the next day or so.
there is also one other item listed Lot 602 1956 Mochet CM-125Y that I never was able to confirm the buyer for.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/baw3/m.html

The Auction Results issue of MICROCAR NEWS #1 2013 also shows these all sold as a group to a single buyer. (except for the Mochet)
I know the identity of that buyer, he is rather well off and I suspect this purchase was more of an entertaining weekend of shopping than serious collecting.

Here is a list of the 12 cars purchased February 2013: (bold are the ones currently listed on eBay)
Lot 244: 1961 BMW Isetta Pickup
Lot 246: 1965 Goggomobil TS-300 cabrio (this is a conversion, not original)
Lot 247: 1958 Maico 500
Lot 254: 1958 Berkeley Sports SE328
Lot 260: 1950 Rolux Baby
Lot 264: 1963 Messerschmitt KR200
Lot 280: 1954 Cuno Bistram
Lot 294: 1958 Messerschmitt KR200
Lot 327: 1956 Eshelman 200
Lot 310: 1958 Biscuter 200 Furgoneta (red woody truck)
Lot 313: 1949 Champion CH-2
Lot 316: 1949 King Midget Series 1

Hi Jim

Thank you for chapter and verse on these cars. I apologise for getting some of the facts wrong. A case of 2+2 = 22

I should have known that you would have your finger on the pulse.

It is interesting that a number of the auction cars have not stayed with the winning bidder from the RS auction. Then motives to buy vary. Same thing happened after the Christies sale.
Are there cars left? Well my bud says quite a few, unless sold privately, as he sold a number of cars into that sphere of ownership. They have not re appeared. So his 2 + 2 is there is a collection remaining, or cars have also been dispersed privately. But why would they not? Its normal activity. Its no one else's business really, but large collections create interest, of course. Sometimes its better if folk do not know what you own.
Messerschmitt set, Goggo Darts, Heinkel 175, Fiat Jolly, Autobianchi, Fairthorpe Electron Minor, Borgward, Isuzu Trooper
Citroen BX 17TZD & GTI 16v
Held - MG Magnette ZB & 4/44
For sale - Vellam Isetta, Bamby, AC Type 70, Velorex, Church Pod, Reliant Mk5, KR200,  Saab 96, Bellemy Trials, Citroen BXs

and sure enough, another six of the cars in the group I listed have appeared at the eBay link I posted above.  The only one of the grouping not shown is
Lot 254: 1958 Berkeley Sports SE328

As for cars not sold, there were some vehicles sold in advance of the auction and some that were held back.
The website was never an accurate indicator of exactly what was on the floor at any time.
