RUMCAR NEWS 113
« on: June 13, 2012, 05:05:45 PM »
RUMCAR NEWS 113 was in the post this morning.  Another cracking edition from Chris, four pages thinner than we would have wished but the sudden rise in postal charges particularly for our overseas friends has meant we have to keep the weight down to under 100grms.  Sorry about that.
Have you subscribed or  renewed your subscription yet?  Don't miss out on a very good read.  Have you noticed if you pay by PayPal there is another cheaper option now, if you would like to receive  electronic copies  for the year it will only cost you £10.   Jean

It seems that Royal Mail is living up to it's reputation of being both expensive and slow.

Lets hope you get yours on Saturday morning. Then you can read it in bed while it is raining outside.

The wait will be well worth it.

I am now planning the next edition and would like some input from you. Yes you! I know the thought of putting pen to paper is quite daunting. But fear not. You have the knowledge on your pet subject, and that is all that is important. I can help you turn that knowledge into something of interest to all our readers. Once you have done it once the second one is much easier.

If you have a pet subject you would like to put forward please give me a call on 01883 724774.

Here is a question for you alll

can anybody identify where the picture on the front cover was taken back in 1913?

To me it looks like Wiltshire, but it may be somewhere else.

I have been asked the question and I have no idea. So can anybody help?

Reply by Chris...

Dear Bob

Glad to hear that your latest RCN has arrived. I have been trying to find people who are willing to write about the technical spects of Microcars, such as Engines, but they are few and far between. I am still looking and hopefully can satisfy some of your needs.

It may not be obvious to you and other readers, but I am trying to increase the number of pages written by people other than yours truly, and so far it has reached 20 pages where as the previous edition was 16.5 pages. As I have always said, you guys are the experts.

I have now had opportunity to fully devour 113. Its a good read Chris, well done, I actually prefer it with this amount of pages. The article on HO engines got me thinking, I have seen a few Rovins over the years but have never been able to take a peek under the lid, for some reason I assumed that they had HO engines but according to the article the company tried but failed to produce one, thats new to me. I take it they have a side by side upright potted affair then? They are watercooled I believe?

Thanks Jonathan, I still cant quite make out the engine lay out from that picture but at least it does reveal that its water cooled.

With the plug caps that far apart it must be horizontally opposed?
