The other good thing these days is the availability of add on reversing gearboxes like Quaife (?) designed for bike engined kit cars. Quite expensive, but a reverse makes any car so much better!

True but could one be inked up to a compact CVT type scooter unit? One might have to revert to the starter motor with roller attached coming down to make contact with the rear tyre.

OK then, you are developing a side-by-side 4 seater micro with a Warp drive engine, fold out wings for getting over traffic jams, built in mini-bar and jacuzzi, and sealed floor for use on the water, like a quick jaunt over the Channel to France.
