In therory (warning,Peel related)

In theory, looking at a certain Peel specialists site,IF you knew what all the parts were off,and IF you could get hold of them, doesnt matter about timescale, treat it as a resto, you COULD if you bought say a Trident shell and dome, build your own replica Peel, but as close to original as possible, for significantly less than buying a built replica or indeed a real one.
Simply for the enjoyment of owning a "Peel" and taking it to shows and rallies it would be worth doing,no?

basically if you bought a shell and dome, and sourced the rest yourself, could you build one for less than the cost of a replica?

yes, if you buy the main parts and source the rest yourself and assemble it yourself, it would cost less than buying a completed replica, is that what you are saying?

that is the way it is with any replica vehicle or kit car.

or you could do what a family in OHIO in the USA did and just get some photos of a P50, figure out the size based on that make your own from scratch.

Again, hardly an eath-shattering revalation of fact.  Andy Carter will sell as much of or as little of a replica Peel as you want, to do as you want. What's the problem?

Yes, I agree with Stuart, Andy has always offered anything from just a body shell to a complete car. A word of caution though, all the unseen steering and running gear components are not particularly easy to fabricate especially if you do not have a real one alongside to copy.[they dont come off of a Morris Minor]  On the website there are some shots of the underside to give you a clue. Some have struggled to complete the project. This is of coarse if you want to build a really faithful replica, some are content with a modern scooter unit grafted on the back, and I guess you could adapt quad/gocart running gear but then it wouldnt be a replica.
