It is 1961 Daihatsu Midget(MP5)
MP4 is early type from 1957,it come with sunroof,It had three wheels, two in the back, and one in the front.
Early versions also had motorcycle-like handlebars in place of a steering wheel.
The engine was an air-cooled 2-stroke design of 305 cc which produced 12 hp (9 kW).

I bought a model of this funny vehicle in scale 1:43 some times ago, but didn´t known more details. Thank you montri! I had a short look at the microcarmodels page and found that there are numerous toycars of the Daihatsu Midget. 

I love this website very much and I think that this is another interesting kind of collecting microcars  :D

I think the Daihatsu Midget is about the best looking light cargo/tuk tuk thingy. Second only to Scammell Scarabs and ScarabTownsman. Like the models site too, I made model TG 500 and Trojan out of cigar tins and tap washers many years ago, wish I had time to do some more!

This is my 500 N 1957.It's very rare in thailand.Have no idea it is micro car or not.

Beautiful, I love those 500s, and that looks really smart. I have never seen that colour before, but it suits it. As for whether it is a micro or not, it falls within the various definitions that are suggested for true micros, in that sense yes. RUM itself is generally committed to vehicles which do not have their own clubs, but I think most of us appreciate all manner of machinery!

A couple of years ago an Italian man turned up in our yard with a black 500 Abarth, but with a 600 engine and various other mods. It was very nice and I was chatting to him about it. We had a nice talk, then he said that he reckoned it was the smallest car in London, and that no-one else has a rear engine, air cooled micro. Well, what could I say? I took him round the corner, and there was my red Trojan 200 gleaming in the sun, and his jaw dropped, and he was as wildly excited as a small boy. He had never seen or heard of bubble cars, and went home educated!

Great to see some pictures from Thailand. I enjoyed that wonderful Thai hospitality (and fantastic food!) for many years, particularly in Chiang Mai, which is where I photographed this Daihatsu on my last visit in 2005. It was usually parked outside this shop on Moon Muang St. Do you know it?
