Hello all.
I have just brought a Coronet and am looking for the following parts to get her back on the road or any pictures of,patterns,clues as to who makes them,or what will fit.
Throttle pedel. Rear wheel chain spocket. Door handles and locks, Hood frame, Side screens, Seat base and back, Steering wheel, Spare wheel, Hub caps, Carburettor and air cleaner, Head lamps, Petrol cap, Speedometer,cable and final drive, Windscreen, Fuel pump, Wipermotor and assembly, Dash board switches.
Any help or pointers gratefully received.Thanks Keith

i also do have a coronet - and i would be very glad to get pictures and all kind of info about the model. i also would like to know the difference in 2, 3 and 4 seaters.

Clutching at straws a bit, but Warwick University hold some correspondence between the Standard Motor Co and Coronet cars about the supply of suspension units. The steering wheels of the Coronet and a 1957 Standard Eight look remarkably similar.

yes but whos coronet is that and when ? is that correct or not ? not doubting but you cant all just copy without knowing the provenance of the picture
ok just clicked on jonathans link and theres the problem in a nutshell - 2 pics- one photo period and the steering wheel black or dark anyway. the other later photo shows a restored car with a white , or pale coloured wheel. neither proves anything but ......

Rumcars exists to help people with these Rare and unusual microcars, and to do this we do ask that you register your cars with us. If you have just purchased the cars we need to know if it is one we already know about or one that has not yet been registered.
The process is very simple so there is no excuse. I am sure you appreciate that sharing knowlege works both ways.

dont know if this helps at all , it's probably nothing new to you . incidentally period article and both black AND white steering wheel feature , and it appears the same as Rusty Chrome suggested .

I did only use that picture as it gave a very clear view of the interior, but in case you missed the link, its the Coronet shown in the second link at the Lane Motor Museum (544 NHX).

My examples had off white Standard steering wheels. The front suspension is effectively Standard. Have you got the one with the Villiers 3T engine? If so it is wrong unfortunately. Fortunately the 3T might be worth more than a blower Excelsior, if you can find one. If it has no blower it will not get far without overheating. There are two types of blower and the side mounted one is not really that bright as it cools the near cylinder at the expense of transferring its heat to the further. Often wondered what would happen if you put a Dolphin engine in with a rad set up to get the engine cool. A car let down by a engine inadequate for the task in hand.

jonathan i always bow to your cutting pasting n things . but when i click once on the pic i posted i get a pic of the coronet 12" long - when i click on yours i get a pic with the coronet 2 1/2" long is it just me ?

He made the entire image smaller so it did not flow off the screen. Unfortunately one cannot read the text at this size.
So I prefer the original file that Richard posted despite its large size.

Just another question about the coronet, does anyone know what windscreen it uses or was it a special screen ??

Reading this thread it does seem a shame that it would appear there are three Coronets that are possibly not on the Register of Unusual Microcars. On the other hand they may well be and are in the hands of unknown owners and we have historical information that could be of use to those new owners. As Chris pointed out earlier RUMCARS is in the business of helping such people if they would only register their cars. We have a large archive of information in the form of road tests, reports and experiences from the days when these cars were being made, as well as brochures and all manner of other bits and pieces. We can also, with the permission of existing known owners introduce you to each other. This is what the Register of Unusual Microcars was started for in 1980 and now has over 1020 vehicles registered. Once a vehicle is registered it is kept on the records until we know it has been scrapped. Each successive owner should notify us but sadly many of them don't. If we don't know about you and your cars we can't help you. So what ever kind of microcar you have we may well have some of the answers to your questions, the Forum is not your only port of call. Unfortunately, it would seem that the original purpose of the Register of Unusual Microcars has been forgotten in this electronic age. We are not looking to discover bargins to buy or to act as a go between for other prospective buyers we just want to help. Many of the original cars that were put on the Register in the 1980's that have dropped from the radar and we suspect they are resurfacing now and we may well have valuable historical information about them but if you don't let us have your details we cannot help you. No windscreen and no hood, unfortunately someone or maybe several people have had a go at restoring or should I say bodging the car previously.
I bought it several years ago, the chassis has been painted (over the rust) and someone has tried to repair the body with filler, not a good move.
It has got the correct engine etc. However no luck finding out any info about the screen so I was thinking along the lines of finding something similar and making a new frame to suit.
There was no id anywhere that I can find on the car however by miracle I have found out that the car had been in the ownership of a number plate dealer some years ago so I am hoping to trace the id by contacting him although quite often due to their practices, he may be reluctant to help.
